HIGHLIGHTS OF TROOP 310 & SCOUTING AT MQP

Troop 310 is a traditional scout troop.  From its inception in 2000, the troop has grown from 8 youth to around 40 youth.  We expect to continue to grow.  One of the things that sets Troop 310 apart from the other troops in our area is the commitment to the mission of scouting.  Troop 310's mission is to prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. We also strive provide leadership training in a safe environment.  As a result, our Troop's program schedule is developed by the youth and is approved by the Patrol Leaders' Council.  It appears on the Troop's calendar.

Troop 310 will continue to offer at least one outdoor experience every month.  Our patrols will also provide outdoor experiences to their members.  All members of our troop are encouraged to complete the Year Around Camper Program.  This allows the youth to quickly gain the necessary scout skills to make scouting both fun and rewarding for the balance of their tenure.  Troop 310 is an active member of the Bogue Tuchenna District and the Istrouma Area Council.  We will also serve our Charter Organization, Mary, Queen of Peace and the community.  Our boys serve in several key leadership positions with our OA Lodge, Quinipissa #479.  The Current Lodge Chief, Mark Ernst, Jr. is from our troop.  Youth from the troop also lead a contingent troop to the 2005 National Jamboree.  Spencer Robichaux, our first Eagle Scout served as SPL of Troop 1503.  The adults of Troop 310 are active in scouting, not only in the troop, but at the district and council level.  Our Scoutmaster serves on the Executive Committee of Istrouma Area Council.  Many of our adults are commissioners, and serve on the district committee.  In fact our Scoutmaster was Scoutmaster of Troop 1503 at the 2005 National Jamboree.

In 2006, our Troop will continue its tradition of ushering at LSU home games, test our skill at salt water fishing, attend Webelos Woods, teach scout craft at Cub Family Weekend, and attended Winter Camps.  In addition, we will go to Climbmax to work on the climbing and rappelling merit badges.   We plan on hiking at the Shilo Battle Field, canoe, ride horses and camp.  We continue to send crews to BSA High Adventure bases.  In 2004, we sent crews to Philmont and Seabase.  Mr. Campbell will take a crew to Philmont in 2006.  In 2006, we are going to Skymont Scout Reservation for Summer Camp.

As of March 2006, Troop 310 has recognized 6 Eagle Scouts.

We are very proud of our Troop, and hope you visit us in the future.
